The EW-500 electric moped is the first in the market to have a removable battery that can be easily removed and charged. The ability to remove the battery enables the rider to charge the battery easily during the day at work, home or anywhere you travel. The removable battery provides the ability to increase your driving range. Thus the EW-500 is great for everyday transportation.
The EW-500 is classified as a electric bicycle and is legal most everywhere with no license needed to operate*. And usually no insurance and no DMV registration fees are required! The EW-500 can be ridden without the pedals but, if you want it to qualify as an electric bicycle, they should be installed.
Unique among electric moped bikes, the EW-500 also has a pedal assist mode and pedals that are optimally positioned for actual pedaling! Namely, when the ignition is turned on and you pedal, the engine will give you an assist without turning throttle. With the ignition off, you can pedal it normally without the motor assist. On average, in our experience, in the pedal assist mode, the motor provides about 50% of the power while the rider provides the other 50%. This electric assist mode when combined with the light weight of this electric moped bike (136 lbs as compared to 175 to over 200 lbs on others), the optimum positioning of the pedals relative to the rider's seated position and the optimum gearing of the pedal crank, makes for a easily pedalable electric moped bike!
